I am an Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in the treatment of
shoulder and elbow conditions. I believe in working closely
within the multidisciplinary team and offer a full range of
arthroscopic and open surgery for shoulder and elbow
conditions. My aim is to provide a high level of care which is
individualized to the needs of each patient. I am a leading
researcher, having published over 80 peer reviewed
papers, including articles on shoulder instability and
rotator cuff tears.

WELCOME TO MIDLAND SHOULDER SURGEON


I studied Medicine at the University of Birmingham before completing my Specialist Orthopaedic training on the well-regarded Warwick Orthopaedic Training Programme.

I undertook my Upper Limb Fellowship at the world-renowned Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital in Oswestry where I was able to develop expertise in complex open and arthroscopic shoulder and elbow procedures. I was awarded the prestigious Watanabe Travelling Fellowship in arthroscopic techniques in 2019 which allowed me to learn state of the art arthroscopic techniques from leading shoulder surgeons across the United Kingdom.

I manage a wide range of shoulder and elbow conditions including traumatic injuries: Shoulder conditions: rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, calcific tendonitis, adhesive capsulitis or ‘Frozen’ shoulder, acromioclavicular osteoarthritis, shoulder arthritis, clavicle fractures, shoulder fractures and acromioclavicular joint instability Elbow conditions: tennis elbow (Lateral epicondylitis), golfers elbow (Medial epicondylitis), ulna nerve compression (cubital tunnel syndrome), elbow arthritis, elbow stiffness and fractures around the elbow.
I am an active contributor to the medical literature having published over 80 articles in the peer reviewed literature and having obtained a distinction in the Orthopaedic Masters programme at Warwick University. I am committed to keeping up to date with the latest developments in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery and have presented my work at numerous national and international conferences. I am an invited reviewer for numerous journals and spent three years as the Editor-in-Chief of a trauma journal.
I grew up in Wiltshire and Dorset before coming to the University of Birmingham to study Medicine. I am married to a local General Practitioner and we have two young boys. I have always held a keen interest in sport and now have the opportunity to share my love of football (Aston Villa), rugby and cricket with my children. Although my team sports days are behind me, I enjoy keeping myself fit and am a competitive runner having completed the London Marathon thrice as well as numerous other races.
